EurekAlert! Science News

The Services of the AAAS,American Association for the Advancement of Science

A few years ago, we produced a web video for AAAS (The American Association for the Advancement of Science) about their service.  They call it EurekAlert Science News.  And it is accessible to researchers, scientists and reporters.  This includes embargoed news.

It’s a good example of the kind of video you can put on your website to present and explain the kind of services or products you offer.

I like to say that just because you have a video camera does not mean you know how to operate it to produce professional-quality shows. If you are trying to put your best foot forward, don’t do it with a badly-made video.

Eurekalert – Best Foot Forward

The show about EurekAlert Science News was produced in English and then translated and captioned in five additional languages.  So it quickly made its way around the world.

You may notice that we videotaped the interviews using green screen which is a great tool for video editors.  You can put anything in the background which can help illustrate what the person on video is talking about.

In this case, the people included in this video, who are scientists and science reporters, speak about how Eurekalert helps them learn about and disseminate scientific news as it is happening. In some cases, AAAS releases embargoed news to reporters before general audiences can see it.
