Watts Wacker

Watts Wacker

I had never heard of Watts Wacker until he was the Keynote speaker at an Outdoor Advertising Association of America (OAAA) show here in San Diego in 2007.  As stated at their website, “Founded in 1891, OAAA is a passionate advocate and a progressive thought leader that protects, unites, and advances the interests of the OOH advertising industry. With nearly 800 member companies, OAAA represents more than 90 percent of industry revenues.”  Thus it happened that OAAA hosted the rumpled, Hawaiian-shirt-and-shorts-devotee himself Watts Wacker.

Greece

Ever since I explored Greece as an intrepid single 24-year-old in the late ‘70’s, I had longed to return, but not alone.  This time, I wanted to share the magic of that golden land and its mythological roots with my soulmate. Ah, childish dreaming.  Yet another myth, you may be thinking, for not many women ever find their prince.  And so I humbly thank the gods and goddesses for the moment my eyes met his, on that theatre balcony in Encinitas, California, on Valentine’s Day, 1982.

I might have used it, but I don’t know how much good it would have done.”

Yet, still we see how racism still ravages our country. Look at how popular Donald Trump is among a certain segment of Americans who seem to suffer from a fear of people with skin a different color from their own. How can we move past such intolerance, such primitive thinking? To Kill a Mockingbird Harper LeeThis quandary brings to mind the movie “To Kill a Mockingbird” from the novel written by Harper Lee. And it brings to mind the great actor, Gregory Peck, who won an Oscar for his role as Atticus Finch in 1962.
