Christchurch! The very name conjures a proper British town with a vintage aura. Just as Oz was for Dorothy, Christchurch became an all-consuming destination for us back in 1982 as Mark and I, brand new lovers, skipped over the emerald fields of New Zealand bearing 35-pound backpacks.
From time to time in various communities across our nation, a thoughtful elected representative will present a Special Commendation to worthy citizens within that community. We’ve probably all seen these documents featuring a series of “Whereas” followed by a conclusion, “Now Therefore…..” It’s a thrilling event for the recipient. And so it was for us!

It was an atypical day in Southern California. It had just rained and Brian Deegan’s Temecula backyard was mushy. It was not a good day for him to ride. The clay-like mud would just muck up the gearing and it could also be dangerous for Deegan who was just coming back from his horrific crash on the ice at the 2004 Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado.
As a TV Production Crew, Mark and I used to shoot interviews and B-roll for many segments on A Current Affair. It was a television tabloid news magazine series similar to Inside Edition. A Current Affair, like Hard Copy, focused on news and crime rather than Hollywood entertainment.
