Michael Wood is a highly experienced professional in livestreaming and film production with a career spanning over 14 years. Known for his dedication to creating memorable broadcast experiences, Michael has directed and produced high-quality live events for notable platforms such as TEDx, California State University San Marcos, and the 2023 San Diego US Paralympics. His extensive portfolio demonstrates a commitment to excellence and innovation in the media industry, where he continually strives to deliver impactful storytelling through technology and skilled production.
In addition to his production work, Michael serves as the President of San Diego Media Pros, a non-profit organization dedicated to the development and support of local media professionals. Through his leadership, San Diego Media Pros has become a key resource for networking, education, and mentorship in the local media community, fostering opportunities for collaboration and professional growth among San Diego’s media talents.
Before stepping into his media career, Michael served with distinction in the United States Marine Corps for 15 years. His military background includes leading Marines through both combat missions and intricate operational projects. Known for his ability to strategize and execute complex plans under pressure, Michael honed skills in leadership, logistics, and problem-solving that have greatly informed his approach to media production. Today, he channels this disciplined focus and adaptability into his work, ensuring that every project is thoughtfully planned and flawlessly executed.

"Unturning Steel" Documentary
As the director of the documentary UNTURNING STEEL, Michael is committed to sparking a dialogue about suicide, purpose, and societal disengagement in America. The film follows the story of two brothers who faced challenges after military service, with one ultimately succumbing to suicide. The surviving brother, Bill Leahy, a West Point graduate, is on a mission to help other transitioning service members find purpose in reliability engineering, while addressing the alarming rate of veteran suicides. The documentary aims to connect the dots between the mental health crisis among veterans and the revitalization of American manufacturing.
