Mark and I (Patty) have always been storytellers, but NECTARBALL is more than just a project. It’s personal.
NECTARBALL – The Seed That Grew Into a Vision
It all started with a casual conversation over coffee. Mark and I reflected on how cannabis had quietly shaped our lives. When we met in 1982, speaking openly about it was risky. We had to use code words and navigate “The Green Closet.”
Fast forward to today—we’re telling a story that once had to be whispered.
What began as a documentary idea quickly expanded. We traveled the world, interviewing 170 pioneers—doctors, activists, farmers, scientists, and patients. Along the way, we dodged tropical downpours in South Africa and laughed with a 90-year-old cannabis advocate in Argentina.
We realized we weren’t just making a film. We were witnessing a movement.
The depth of our footage led us to create more than a single film. We produced NECTARBALL, a 13-episode series exploring cannabis culture, history, and science. Then, we distilled our journey into NECTARBALL: The Story of Cannabis, an 82-minute feature documentary.
NECTARBALL – A Force for Change
Mark and I have always believed in the power of video to spark change. But this film is different.
We met veterans who found relief from PTSD when nothing else worked. Parents shared their struggles to get life-saving cannabis treatments for their children. Scientists revealed discoveries that could revolutionize medicine—if only stigma weren’t in the way.
Each conversation confirmed what we already knew: this story must be told.
We want NECTARBALL to bridge the gap between past and future, myth and truth. This isn’t just about cannabis—it’s about healing, justice, and changing outdated perceptions.
