Music Videos for Artists

Music videos are some of the most fun video productions we’ve done. Music is a very important component in our society. We’ve often thought about how dull life would be without music. Here in San Diego, we have a variety of amazing venues for summer concerts, and our summers are long and lovely.

We’ve produced, shot and edited many different music concerts. If you are a band looking for a promotional video, or would like to document a concert, call on the seasoned experts at Crystal Pyramid Productions.

How to Make a Music Video

Making music videos can be a fun and creative process. Here are some general steps you can follow to make a professional music video you can be proud of.

Develop a concept:

The first step in making a music video is to develop a concept or idea for the video. This can involve brainstorming with your team or collaborators, listening to the song multiple times to get a sense of the tone and lyrics, and considering the target audience for the video.

Write a treatment:

Once you have a concept, write a treatment for the video. This is a document that outlines the storyline, the visual elements, and the key shots that will be included in the video.

Plan the production:

This involves deciding on the location(s) for filming, choosing the props, costumes, and lighting, and creating a shot list that outlines the specific shots you need to capture. This is the point at which you can call on a professional video production company to execute your ideas.

Record the footage:

With the planning done, it’s time for your chosen video production team to record the footage for the video. This will involve setting up the shots according to the shot list, and filming the performance or storyline in multiple takes to get the desired shots.

Edit the footage:

Once the footage is recorded, it’s time to edit it together into a cohesive video. This will involve selecting the best takes, adding visual effects, and syncing the footage to the music. To make this process easier and less costly for you, we will post time-coded footage to Vimeo where you can jot down time-code numbers of the scenes you want. This is known as an Edit Decision List. Remember, the more work you can do yourself, the less money an editor will charge.

Add finishing touches:

Finally, the editor will add any finishing touches to the video, such as color grading or additional visual effects. Once the video is complete, it’s ready for you to share with the world! And ready to disseminate to interested venues who will book you and your band. Are you ready to take your show on the road?

Keep in mind that making a music video can require a lot of time, effort, and resources. It’s important to have a solid plan in place and to work with a team of collaborators, like your friendly and experienced Crystal Pyramid Productions crew, who can help you bring your vision to life.
