Taylor Guitars
San Diego Home Grown
Taylor Guitars are some of the most beautiful instruments made. Many years ago, our video production crew videotaped an interview with Bob Taylor and Kurt Listug. They are the creators and proprietors of Taylor Guitars. And they have a sprawling warehouse located in a suburb of San Diego called El Cajon.
The San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce wanted to honor Bob and Kurt at their annual awards gala for their exemplary philanthropy and business ethics. So that’s why Crystal Pyramid Productions paid them a visit. Bob and Kurt built their company literally from the ground up. When asked if they were ever planning to exit San Diego the way Buck Knives did a few years previously, they said “No!” Kurt further explained that he and Bob were both born in San Diego. They loved the city and would therefore never vacate our beautiful area. So Taylor Guitars is here to stay.
Warehouse Tours
Guitar aficionados should check out the Taylor Guitars warehouse. There master builders create these beautiful instruments. Then warehouse personnel ship them all over the world. Taylor Guitars offers a free, guided tour of the factory every Monday through Friday at 1 p.m. (except on holidays). No reservation is necessary. Due to the tour’s popularity, if you are bringing a group, you should keep your party to a maximum of ten people. The company limits the tour to the first 80 guests.
The Taylor Guitars factory tour takes guests through all the steps of guitar construction. From wood selection to final assembly, guests experience each process. They see a guitar evolve from raw wood into a finished instrument. The tour lasts approximately an hour and 15 minutes. It departs from the main building at 1980 Gillespie Way in El Cajon, California.
Their shop is also located in Taylor’s main building. There you’ll find all kinds of swag for the Taylor Guitars fan. Everything from clothing to gift items to replacement guitar parts.
Jason Mraz and Taylor Swift Play Taylor Guitars
This is the “Director’s Cut” with some San Diego big surf and talented surfers. It features San Diego’s own Jason Mraz, who plays on Taylor Guitars. So does Taylor Swift, for that matter. Director of Photography Mark Schulze videotaped the interview and contemporary B-Roll. Award-winning producer and editor Patty Mooney edited the video.
