The Punisher – Drawing Blood
Tim Bradstreet, comic book artist of “The Punisher”
17 years ago, in 2004, just after “The Punisher” hit the theaters, Automat Pictures hired the Crystal Pyramid Productions crew to videotape interviews of comic book artist, Tim Bradstreet, who draws “The Punisher,” and Thomas Jane, who starred in the 2004 movie “The Punisher” as Frank Castle. Lions Gate wanted to create a Special Feature for the movie DVD called “Drawing Blood – An Interview with the Cover Artist.”
Director of Photography Mark Schulze set up the interview of Tim Bradstreet at his home using dramatic lighting. Because there was a lot of blue light coming through the windows, we put black duvetyne over the windows to block the sunlight.

After the interview, we went into Bradstreet’s “inner sanctum” where he does his drawing.

After interviewing Tim Bradstreet at his home, the crew wrapped the production equipment and headed out to the second location.
The Mall
We went to a comic book shop at the local mall where Thomas Jane would be signing autographs. Tom Jane is the lead character in “The Punisher,” a comic-book hero who is human. Sound Technician, Patty Mooney, poses at the comic book shop with sexy actor, Tom Jane, who is a true comic book aficionado. Automat Pictures, Inc., a multi-award winning DVD Added Value and EPK production company, whose clients include most of the major motion picture studios, produced the documentary for client Lions Gate Home Entertainment.
Producer Laura Nix
Laura Nix was the producer who worked closely with Punisher director Jonathan Hensleigh, and producer Gale Anne Hurd. Hensleigh said, “I am super pleased with Laura’s work on “The Punisher.” She is hugely talented and very professional. The behind-the-scenes and documentary segments she produced were perfect, and added a tremendous insight into the film. Her materials help this movie spring to life on DVD. I am looking forward to working with her again.”
