Several years ago a British television company called us up. They wanted to know if we could provide a sound operator for a video shoot on a boat. I’ve worked on various boats before. For instance, the Hornblower, a local tour boat that cruises around San Diego Bay and under Coronado Bridge. And then it returns to port. I’ve also worked aboard assorted sailboats and motor boats. A crew from the UK would travel to San Diego to shoot a segment for a tv show called “Top Trumps.” So I said yes, I’d do it.
Social marketing is the new way of the world, even a business like ours. Crystal Pyramid Productions is San Diego’s longest-serving video production services company, established in 1981. We have literally been around the block with various video productions all over San Diego, Orange County and Los Angeles. Still, we know we can benefit from learning all the nuances of marketing and publicity online.
Pensacola Wings of Gold was filmed in Ocean Beach, California, and aired on television from 1997 – 2000. San Diego’s Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Naval Training Center San Diego and Ocean Beach all figured prominently in the show, even though the setting was supposedly Pensacola, Florida.
It was an atypical day in Southern California. It had just rained and Brian Deegan’s Temecula backyard was mushy. It was not a good day for him to ride. The clay-like mud would just muck up the gearing and it could also be dangerous for Deegan who was just coming back from his horrific crash on the ice at the 2004 Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado.
As a TV Production Crew, Mark and I used to shoot interviews and B-roll for many segments on A Current Affair. It was a television tabloid news magazine series similar to Inside Edition. A Current Affair, like Hard Copy, focused on news and crime rather than Hollywood entertainment.
