Video Productions of 2014
A Look Back at What Our Crew Was Up To In Photographs
Today we reflect on the past months of the year 2014. We focus on our challenges, our video productions and our accomplishments. First off, considering that as a child, I never thought we’d make it past the blustery sci-fi view of 2001 (Thank you Stanley Kubrick, director of iconic sci-fi film “2001”), here we are on the threshold of 2024. Indeed, nearly a decade later. So join us as we wander back through the peaks and valleys of 2014.
Inside Edition and Kaufman Family Story
Inside Edition called on us a few times in 2014 as an elite broadcast television video crew. A lot of sensational news occurred in San Diego. One shoot involved the rescue of the Kaufman family at sea after their child had become deathly ill. Much controversy arose from this story, as people were up in arms about a couple taking their baby on an around-the-world sea journey. We didn’t get a chance to speak to the actual family. But we interviewed the sister of the mom, and some of the crew members from the USS Vandegrift.
Evelyn Zeller
A sad piece of news was the murder of Evelyn Zeller’s boyfriend, John Upton. He was killed by his neighbor because that neighbor thought John was threatening him. As Evelyn related, in her kind and forthright manner, John was an even-keeled guy who had achieved some fame by rescuing children from Romania in the 1990’s.
Documentary Video
Patty Mooney worked as a Sound Technician for Ami Horowitz’s newest documentary. It zeros in on the conflict between Israel and the Arab nations.
Mark Schulze, Camera Operator, and Patty Mooney, Sound Technician, joined Producer Maria Hecht on a shoot for the Veterans Administration, interviewing medical personnel.
In Home Interview
The Crystal Pyramid Productions video crew interviewed a family in Bonita for a Christian TV show.
An Extra! Shoot Involving Margaritas with Scott Eastwood
One of Patty’s most enjoyable video productions of the year involved placing a lavalier mic on Scott Eastwood (the handsome son of Clint Eastwood) for Extra! Scott will soon appear in a Nicholas Sparks (“The Notebook”) adaptation of “The Longest Ride.” Viewers, get your hankies out. Patty has spent a couple of decades of miking up and booming celebrities including Bo Derek, Justin Timberlake and Jerry Lewis. But Scott Eastwood, a laid-back San Diego surfer in his spare time, seemed to get Patty blushing.
Stem Cell Research
Patty was Audio Technician for Larry Goldstein, preeminent researcher of stem cells, at his office, during a live audio feed.
Marshall Goldsmith
This was the CPP crew’s second interview with Marshall Goldsmith. He is one of the world’s leading business coaches. He’s also quite an amiable and clever guy.
The CPP crew participated on a shoot in the desert. It was a commercial for El Jimador tequila.
